AWS Security Assessment

An AWS security audit is an expert-led review of your Amazon Web Services environment across all relevant security domains - IAM, S3, EC2, RDS, VPC, Lambda, CloudTrail, KMS, GuardDuty, and more. It identifies every misconfiguration, missing control, and security gap, benchmarks them against AWS security best practices and the AWS Well-Architected Framework Security Pillar, and produces a prioritized remediation plan with specific fixes for each finding.

No. We do not require IAM credentials, read-only roles, production access, or any form of direct system access. The entire audit is conducted through screen-sharing sessions with your AWS and DevOps teams - your team navigates the AWS Management Console and shares their screen. No credentials change hands.

The most consistently found critical issues are: root account with no MFA and active access keys, S3 buckets with public access containing confidential data, RDS instances with Public Accessibility enabled, IAM users with AdministratorAccess who should have scoped roles, CloudTrail disabled or not covering all regions, security groups allowing 0.0.0.0/0 on SSH/RDP, hardcoded credentials in Lambda environment variables or CI/CD pipelines, and IMDSv1 enabled on EC2 instances.

Security Hub and GuardDuty are automated monitoring tools that look for known threat patterns in log data. They do not evaluate whether your IAM permission structure is least-privilege, they do not review S3 bucket policies for data exposure, they do not assess your incident response capability, and they cannot audit the human and process factors like developers using root credentials or sharing access keys via Slack.

Data collection takes approximately 1 business day for a single-account environment. Multi-account AWS Organizations typically take 2-3 days. The full report and remediation plan is delivered 1-3 business days after assessment completion, for a total of approximately 1 week from first session to finished report.

A single-account AWS environment audit typically costs $3,000-$7,000 as a fixed-price engagement. Multi-account AWS Organizations and environments with complex architectures cost proportionally more. Pricing is agreed during the free scoping call with no variable billing or scope creep. You approve the report before any payment is due.

Yes. SOC 2 auditors evaluate your AWS security controls during the Type II observation period. An AWS security audit closes the gaps before that period begins, ensuring your cloud environment reflects your security policies. The audit report also provides the evidence documentation that auditors require.

Yes. Multi-account AWS Organizations are audited with coverage of the management account, security tooling account, log archive account, and all production accounts. We cover service control policies, CloudTrail organization-level logging, centralized Security Hub and GuardDuty configuration, cross-account IAM role trust relationships, and permission boundaries.

Yes. After the report is delivered and approved, we work with your AWS and DevOps teams to implement every remediation. This includes writing IAM policies, updating S3 bucket configurations, reconfiguring security groups, enabling GuardDuty and Security Hub, setting up CloudWatch alarms, and configuring Secrets Manager rotation.
